I got the word today that one of my guys is moving on.
He started with me straight out of high school. Has been with me for about 5 years now. Just got a good gig with the railroad in an unrelated field. He progressed quickly and has hung with me through the rough last couple of years. He has been a loyal employee and turned into a friend. It is kinda sad to see him go but I could never offer him what the big corporation can. I wish him nothing but the best.
Good luck pal!
I didn't take well to mine leaving, tho he didn't give me much warning, and he did it a few days after my kids were born. The rancor lasted two years, now we're good friends. Go figure ...
I lost your email address, otherwise I would have sent my resume to apply for the position 😉
Ok dam1t, I am coming to fill this position! However, you are gonna have to pay more than minimum wage and a pint of moonshine every two weeks.
Seriously though, sometimes it is tough to turn the page...I understand. The river keeps flowing though & time marches on.
In a way, I would have a hard time faulting anybody who finds employment in (hopefully) a more stable profession.
And since I can not find employment in any other profession, I am going on an interview for a surveying position tomorrow. Should I get the position, the commute would be very much on the fugly side and I would have to consider moving to the (more expensive) area should the job work out. But, for a job, one has to do what one has to do.
I know engineers, surveyors and geologists with more years experience than I'm comfortable acknowledging that started with me as summer interns, looking to make beer money for the next semester.
As the song says, I'm too young to feel this damn old.
