Manhole odors

I did a survey of a WWTP (I actually have done several) once and got to be acquainted with the operators while we were there.?ÿ Their 'break room' was a concrete block building adjacent to the head works and a open-faced parshall flume structure that roared with the influent flow.?ÿ The building was not air-conditioned so the guys ate their lunch at an outside?ÿpicnic table that wasn't 10' from the parapet around the flume.?ÿ I asked them if the smell or spray ever bothered them.?ÿ All I was told was if the wind was out of the north they usually ate indoors...

I always ate in my truck...parked on the section line 200 yards away.
