I just bought this used. And I push the Pos and it gives the Waiting to Fix and shows numbers below but I've waited for over 1/2 hour and it never shows any bars that it's connecting to a satellite. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jeff

My experience is with later receivers than this model but this issue is usually a result of the fact that the receiver has lost the correct date and time. Go to the Settings menu and select set the date and time to correct values. You may then want to go to the GPS Initialization screen and set your position to be in the correct state.

Having done the above, if there is a "Navigation" screen on that unit, go to that screen in the mapping software and see if the date and time are correct in the display. You may have to set the date and time two or three times to get it to actually stick.

Good advice Jerry.

Sometimes my PM3 units loose the date and time if they sit unused for extended periods of time. A frequent reset keeps things operating properly.

How cold is it where you are....?

PMX does not like to work below 18 degrees F....it will search allday for signal and never find it...if you have to do it, tape a handwarmer to the back of the unit..

Set the location manually or make it search for an init.....

Are you using an external antenna? Make sure it can be driven off the cabling, not a low voltage antenna.....

I had the same thing happen to me.
Check your antenna connector on the unit.
There should be a gold female pin inside the antenna coupler.
If not, there is no connection.
After being used for almost 20 years these connectors will fail and fall out.
Pictured are 2 units, one with and one missing the center pin.
