I never got involved in ley lines but I had a colleague who, during the height of the "Your entrance MUST face east" craze proclaimed by a certain guru whose initials are Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, made some good money establishing east-west reference lines on building projects. He would arrive on the site, place a tacked hub, set up his old K&E transit on same, release the compass needle and set zero on it, turn a 90, place another carefully tacked hub, collect his money and go to coffee break.

I once asked him if he considered declination in his procedure. He answered along the lines of, "Declination? Declination! We don't need no steenkeeng declination!"
