This is one of my weirdest monument finds. Mrs. Penry was working in her flower garden when she needed assistance with lifting a water pail up the wall. I had previously noticed the last few inches of the end of a 5/8" rebar in the flower garden, but didn't give it much thought. Tonight I decided to pull it out and low and behold its a survey monument! The flower garden is fill dirt from some unknown location and the capped rebar must have been brought in with the dirt. My lot had been surveyed by a different surveyor several years ago and we moved here about 4 months ago. I know the surveyor who this belongs to, so will make a delivery some day.
So, that's what you do with stray mons and caps, that belong to other surveyors. You return them. I have a few floating around, in the back of my truck that belong to a surveyor that is deceased Hmmmm Maybe I could go stick it in somebody's flower bed! 🙂

Sure there was just one?
Don't those things come in pincushion groups?
Maybe you've answered the question of whether it is ever justified to pull someone else's monument.
>stick it in somebody's flower bed
Or find the guy's grave and pound his monument next to the stone?
That's quite a coincidence... surveyor finding survey monument in garden.
Good thing you're not a mortician.
[sarcasm]Aren't you supposed to save those to invent corner when there are none, lol.[/sarcasm]
Whellll, I suppose so. Maybe that explains some things....... (!)
