I thought that someone posted awhile back about a replacement for the NGS Linetool application, but I can't find that post, and I'm not finding anything on the NGS site about it.?ÿ If anyone here can point me in the right direction I'd be grateful.

Jim: there is a beta version of a tool that can access leveling data. Not the same as linetool, but you can access some of the same information...

https://beta.ngs.noaa.gov/datasheets/leveling-projects/index.html

Glad you found the tool useful. If you have comments/recommendations be sure to send them to NGS. I had some.?ÿ

I do not know what information you are seeking but the tool has some problems. In particular, the ƒ??observationsƒ? are the all the section differences (forward and back) and not the mean of both. The observations include rejected observations.?ÿ

I like the map. The header information also includes the dates of observations.?ÿ

I wish one could zoom into an area of interest and find all the level lines observed there. I do not remember if that was possible in Linetool.

I have been working to find points observed during the NGS FBN project that are also first-order benchmarks. It is surprisingly difficult to retrieve this info from existing tools.?ÿ

BTW, there is a publicly available Perl script that allows users to retrieve what NGS calls Phase 1 files. Unlike the observations in the Level Project page these are abstracted. The tool allows the deselection of corrections applied by NGS to leveling submitted to them.

Annotated screen captures follow.

Noticing that I had forgotten to show examples of the Phase1 output, I do so now. These screen captures show the same level line in my previous post. One shows the results with all corrections applied; the other without any corrections. Note that mean of the six forward and backward runs for section 0005 to 0007 in the Leveling Project tool agrees with the "no corrections" version of the Phase1 output. As it should. Note as well the difference between the two Phase 1 outputs for this particular section is 2 mm.?ÿ
