I am considering taking the NH exam. I was trying to find some specific info on the state specific portion and have been unable to come up with anything. Does anyone know how long the exam currently is? And if it is open or closed book?

Thanks.

I took the exam way back in the late 90's, so it could be different now, but it was odd: Make sure you know how many counties are in NH, and make sure you can sketch, in detail, the inside of at least one county Registry of Deeds. Also, brush up on some geography, as I seem to remember a few of those tossed in. I was already licensed in two other states at the time, so the survey questions were pretty straightforward, but those three items kept this carpet bagger from getting a third ticket! Good luck!!

I got my NH license in 2002. There were no trick questions on my exam. It was probably the most straight-forward of the tests that I've taken.

As far as NH specific, there were questions on road classifications, research locations, boundary line agreements, boundary line adjustments, rangeways, water boundaries, and ethics and standards of the NHLSA.

I'd pick up the NHLSA hand-outs, as well as the booklets on statutes, case law, and roads here:

Good luck.

I took the exam just a couple years back. It is closed book, about 50 questions if I remember correctly. I highly recommend the "Putting It All Together" 2-Saturday review they have every year. http://learn.unh.edu/training/seminar/spring-2015/330215

I will say that of the three states I am licensed in; NH, VT, and ME, the NH exam was the "toughest", but all the questions are straight forward and fair. I take tests quickly, usually finishing in half the allotted time, however, at the NH Specific I took all but 15 min of the four hours allowed.

Good Luck.

Thanks. This is a good starting point for me. I'm definitely planning to take the UNH course.

I also to the state portion test a few years ago, and highly recommend taking the NHLSA prep seminar. I failed the test the first time I took it, then attended the NHLSA seminar and passed.
