Hi guys first post!
?ÿ
Ive only used it at work for a week or so in the last three years but it worked fine then setting out concrete piling. Starting a new job shortly so decided to run the batteries through a couple of cycles and leave the instrument running till the batteries wore down, to refresh them a little which went fine and the machine was going through functions ok electronic level bubble etc.
?ÿ
just tried the batteries in the machine today (genuine Leica GEB221s) but the machine wont now get past the white and red "Leica geosystems" screen, it stays on that screen then goes black as if resetting then back to the leica screen again and so on. Also noticed it switches on now when just inserting the batteries rather than you having to press on? its almost like the "on" button (prog on this machine) is stuck on. no other radio handle lights or usual clicking beeping sequence occur.
?ÿ
I wonder if it could be the old batteries or software or stuck on keypad? Is there a reset button or sequence I could try before having to bring it down or any other ideas you might have please?
?ÿ
Been suggested faulty keyboard or main board? 🙁 Could be a problem sourcing parts now.
?ÿ
Ive tried the "refresh" function on the 4 battery Leica charger I have but its still the same.
?ÿ
Starting a new freelance position in a couple of weeks to need to sort this asap so any help would be much appreciated!

Spent the day at the local Leica service centre, they did a "NV RAM reformat" but not fixed it so far, overnight on a recovery program now so fingers crossed for a better result tomorrow...

I've never used this instrument, but it appears that you had taken all of the troubleshooting steps before seeking the advice of the service center. Good luck with your repairs.

I don't have the answer here but, if it were me I would try an external battery like the geb171 or 371, if you have access to that.
