Hello all and Happy New Year,
Does anyone know if there is a way to store a staked point in Leica Captivate in a way rather that with a prefix, suffix or some arbitrary point number?
Ideally what I am hoping that you can do is add a number such as 10000 so that point 505 would be stored as stake point number 10505.
We have been using this method successfully for many years and I am almost positive that Trimble Access allows you to do this along with any Topcon system we have ever used.
Problem I see currently is that we always import the days work into CAD and neither LDD or Civil3D seem to be happy about alphanumeric points so a prefix or suffix with letters will not work such as stk505 or 505stk. Using an additive of 10000 has been a very easy way for us to correlate the point staked to the original point number. I really don't like the idea of it just storing the staked point as an arbitrary number either.
Any input would be appreciated - perhaps we just need to update our methods but it has worked really well so far.
I change numbers as I import them to my point file.
For example I will choose for the first point 505 to be imported to be 10505, that will add 10000 to all points being imported.
In C3D import as pointname, not as pointnr.

Thanks A Harris, I do use the "add offset" in Land Desktop and then provide a number to add during certain tasks when importing points but not for construction.
I am looking for a way in the collector for it to add 10000 to our staked numbers.
Christ - I will try that - thank you
Nothing says that the prefix can not be numeric, just add 1 and a couple of zeros as you like. This really only works if you have some system for numbering your calculated points in which they all have the same number of significant integers.
Thanks John - I thought I had tried that but will look at that again.
I believe in Topcon and Trimble they have an option to add a "constant" which just works a bit more seamlessly since it simply adds 10,000 to each point (or any number you supply) with a prefix it will be tricky to make that work consistently.
Are you using a stylesheets to export? You could use it to modify the staked point id. If you do, can you attach it and I could have a quick look to see if I can mod it to do what you want.

Thank you for the offer - new user of Leica software and equipment so still learning for sure.
We are not using a stylesheet to export but that would be helpful if i could use one and have it modify the exported information.
How do you create the stylesheets - can Infinity be used to do this?
Thanks again for the help

Greg, what CAD package do you use?
Scratch that, I just re-read your original post and see you use LDD and Civil3D. So I assume you are importing XML files at the moment?

currently still running Land Desktop but will be migrating over to Civil 3D sometime this year.
So you are using the FBA exporter I assume. I can't modify that as it is an internal app however we could do something for Civil3d if you bring that in via xml. Are you just wanting a report or do you need to reduce it into you cad?
Gregg, email me at "jspall at crkennedy dot com dot au" and I will send you some sample exports.
