Good day all, wondering if anyone can guide me on how to create a gradesheet through Leica viva software, infinity or lgo. Can't seem to find anything real useful on documentation to accomplish this. I seem to remember something about exporting staked measurements through a .frt file but not 100% sure.
Fairly new to the equipment and isn't as straight forward as expected. We had been staking single points and a ref. line yesterday but all I can pull out is coordinate info.
Thanks in advance
Geomatician,
With SmartWorx Viva there are many export options for raw data. For specific reports there are two options:
Option 1 - using format files (.frt) which will extract specific values kept in the Leica database which is really only an formatted ASCII file. You can create these in LGO and transfer them to your collector. Format files (.frt) have been around for a long time and are easy to create. You can create ASCII reports with custom layouts or just export certain values in say a comma delimited file that can be imported into a spreadsheet and then you can finalize the formatting. I have done these for a long time and the are easy but sometimes this method is limited when you want to get really fancy. I can provide information on how to create format files and see what you think.
Option 2 - Starting in firmware version 4.50 in Viva SmartWorx Leica has moved into also using XSL formatting so that you can do fancier reports in an HTML output that can be opened in a browser and/or printed from the view in the browser. I have not yet jumped into learning XSL formatting but I have seen what it can do. It is really nice but again someone needs to know how to create an XSL file for export. Leica does provide some really good XSL files from the Factory. One of this is actually for export from the Reference Line application. I can email you the example XLS files to use for exporting. The export method is called Style Sheets. That is what the system is calling the XSL files used to generate the reports.
The XSL I have for exporting from Reference Line requires firmware version 4.60 and higher.
Please email me if you want the example Style Sheets (.XSL) or you can also download them from the Leica myWorld website. Please remember that the Leica myWorld site is a Service provided by Leica at no charge to all customers. I can send you a guide on how to register your gear in Leica myWorld if you email me.
I think you will see that this is easily done once you see some examples.
Mark,
I have a point stake report that I can export from my CS15, Smartworx Viva. But the report exports ellipsoidal heights, and I need orthometric heights. Do you have a style sheet that will export orthometric height? Or do you know how to change the style sheet to output orthometric vs. ellipsoidal? Please advise.
Thank you,
Michael Villa

Is this something that must be done in the field? I have always preferred to use excel for gradesheets because it gives me one more layer of checks.
One tip I have about doing that is to use corresponding numbers. If the calc point is point 200 it gets stored as 1200 if it's 2051 it's store as 12051. Then I line them up in excel and the spreadsheet computes the elevation differences in decimal and feet and inches. Both are displayed on the sheet.
