I love our variety of jobs. Michael had some high level meetings so I took off to attend to a few 911 calls on projects. Did some GPS to get areas on some damaged driveways and then went and did some quality control checks on our SantaFe bridge replacement. They were a hundreth off but our inspector let that slide. 🙂

The picture turned out great. Notice how I managed to actually put a Link crane on top my tripod. Those Topcon tripods sure are sturdy.

Then shot some elevations up at our lake to check our data against the rain gauges and also to check on the now nearly 3/4 mile long (up and downstream) log jam of the creek into the lake. It's not getting any better. No surprise there.

The high level meetings decided we will cut a new channel instead of trying to clear the massive dam. So the next few days will be a lot of brush cutting, walking and drinking of water. We will have a gator to get near the job (almost a mile by gator) but then have the next mile all on foot. Tough on me as I get older and the fact that it's rare we have any heavy foilage to deal with in town at all.

Oh, and another 911 call from an engineer. Contractor knocked out the right of way markers that Michael had set and needs them reset by in the morning. It shouldn't take to long so we will just start an hour early and do it by flashlight. Roads closed so no danger of traffic in the dark.

Surveying sure is grand at times.

Man, you Okies are tuff! I wouldn't even consider straddling a gator, even a small one! Rode a grizzly to work once, but all I had to do was hold a steak out in front!
B-) :-/

Nice pictures, Deral, thanks for sharing.

Gators aint's so bad when you pull their teeth. Just like Bumbles on Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. 🙂 And they are great to get you in and out of swampy places.

I deleted several accounts Glenn. You can send stuff to dpaulk@cityof(dot)lawton(dot)ok(dot)us. I would never have not replied. I apologize if you think I had just ignored something from you.
