I've sometimes been critical of the Maine Society but I gotta give them their props today -- just got the flyer for the Fall meeting and registration is fully half-price for "MSLS unemployed members" (and a note says "space will be provided to distribute copies of your resume").
Still, no break for unemployed non-members -- but, regardless, well done!
That's definitely a step in the right direction. Texas has no such provision at this time.
"Still, no break for unemployed non-members"
Well, what exactly do you expect the society to do for non-members?
Shouldn't any and all benefits be directed towards members, i.e., those who actually pay their dues and support the organization?
Fees for courses, and other benefits are always cheaper for members, that's one of the incentives to join in the first place.

Of course you're right. I was being facetious.
