Send me a picture and some information such as length of scope, diameter of horz & vert circle, weight, vernier graduations, etc. and I'll see what I can tell you.

This list http://www.surveyantiques.com/keuffel-esser-dating.htm shows serial numbers that would include your instrument.

Don't know what they are worth today, but I purchased a model NP5085C serial No. 158857, in 1977 and paid $700 with a tripod, and was happy using it for the next 10 years. Still have it and probally will never sell it.

In order to provide information it is essential for us to at least have some photos.

The serial number dates to about 1966.

There were a wide variety of instruments made from 5' builders transits (very common, not worth very much) to 30" Engineer's Transits (worth more but probably no more than a few hundred dollars given the relatively recent vintage of yours).

I found a KIuffel and Esser transit in my grandfathers garage and wondering what it may be worth. The model # is NP5153 and the serial # is 155376. It had a tripod, box and sun scope. The instrument has some slight scratches and imprefections but is otherwise in good shape. I'm sorru but I'm not sure how to post pictures on this site.

Can anyone help me?
