I can't seem to get the NOAA site
http://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/geomag-web/#declination
To return a value...it just crashes and says something about a "Internal Error: Undocumented calculator failure (1)"
It doesn't seem to matter what I put in for Lat/Lon or Date.
You use this program (or something similar) more than anybody I know. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

This is the one you want for historic values in the 19th century, Loyal:

Edit: Hmm. The calculator seems to be having "issues" right now.
Yes, I'm afraid that Loyal has broken the US Historic Declination Calculator. It was working fine just yesterday.
Thanks Kent...
I had tried that one too, and got the same error.
I used your link, and it still bombs...
The input format "appears" to be DDå¡MM'SS.ss" (which is how it populates the input fields when you use the ZIP Code).
I have tried several other input formats, but still get the same error.
Beats me.

It figures!
I haven't used it in quite a while, so I assumed that I was just NOT inputting the Lat/Lon correctly.
So it's one of those Good NEWS/Bad NEWS things

I have a copy of the old DOS program USHD somewhere. I'll see if I can run your position and dates through it.
Edit: Here it is attached.
Thanks a bunch Kent.
:clink:
Whatever I did to it yesterday...it's fixed now!
Thanks again for the help Kent.

Well, thanks for fixing whatever it was that you did to it yesterday. I just compared the results between the online version of USHD and the DOS standalone program and found that they are identical if the lat and long values are entered as DD and MM.M
