Typical Texan. Every time I read what you write I feel like I've been subjected to watching Fox news. You poke holes in some minute detail that is irrelevant to the Grand scheme of the discussion. Just replace RTK with Obamacare in your posts and it looks like the featured nightly run down. You preach Star*Net and least squares like it's Gospel, whereas people like myself who learned to do LSA by hand know that it is an adjustment and analysis tool, not the Bible of Surveying.

I've tried to steer clear, and got sucked in to wallow in the mud. You know nothing about RTK, since you have not used it. You add nothing of value to this board or this profession. You're an ignorant troll, and that is what I will remember when I see your name.

That sounds like a personal problem to me. If you don't get that an RTK controller that displays incorrect or misleading values is a problem, that would be a professional problem.

The theme that various sophisticated posters have returned to in multiple threads is that the RTK user needs to :

- export his results in the form of covariance-weighted GPS vectors (not just dumb coordinates),

- apply a reality factor to the covariances,

- adjust the works (preferablably including some conventional measurements between RTK points to demonstrate the correctness of the reality factor) to do error propagation.

That way, the professional surveyor can inspect (and document) the actual Relative Positional Precision of his or her survey in a way that isn't likely to be shown to be wrong.

We all have personal problems. Why else would be surveyors! 🙂

Now that there is funny, I don't care who you are .... if you engaged Kent in debate back when P&R was fair game.

I disagree, Fox news is fair and balanced.

Not a statement, just an observation that punctuation is important.

When the temperature falls below 32, Leica equipment dispenses hot chocolate

> Sorry, I wasn't clear. Mr. Hawley unintentionally mischaracterized the original text. The addition of the word "all" makes a big difference to the meaning. That was my actual point.

> You are correct that there are systems that cost less.

Not that I'm in the market, but anyone care to list those? I can think of one or two, but those don't seem to be as feature rich as Javad.

Not to high jack this thread, but if the BLM ESO is rejecting C 1/4's established in 1952 that are only 2 ft out of the latest "correct position" I would recommend every Citizen in that Section, the County Surveyors Assos., and The Land Surveyors Assoc. of that State should write their Senator and ask for an explanation.
