Looks like they're planning a lot more in this app than just static setup and submission. Appears to still be in development, but there is already an RTK function built in. Check out the screen shots:

This is one "race to the bottom" that we stand to benefit from. There is no reason a data collector should cost ~$5,000 any more (for probably over 90% of surveyors). DC software will be the product from now on, and will command a price relative to the added value within.

Getting "unhinged" from the hardware that runs at least 5 years behind all other mobile platforms would be nice.

That's a big 10/4. My Nexus 7 will run laps around any windows mobile POC I've ever laid hands on. Not to mention you could replace your hardware, Otter box and all, for $300.

Saw it the other day, kudos to you for your efforts. Personally I find the UI from the screen shots jarring and don't like the thought of looking at it for hours.

Hard to find that line between contrast/visibilty and pleasing/usable.

Thanks for the word of criticism. In fact many software of big players use white screen and simple small icons instead. My software has some function to switch it over a four colour schemes (so there is a white background).

Look how it look when you load some map in light colors (OpenStreetMap layer and range from DXF file):

But as for icons - we can prepare special sets, depends on the user needs, till this time current set has rather good reception.

I'm interested which interface you find as most intuitive or good looking?

Well that looks a lot better. I do not really have a particular favorite. It seems to me most people do not use white letters because sunlight makes them very hard to read. Most that I have seen use a lighter background (usually grey) with black letters.

Others may totally disagree as we are not all made identical.
