I'm hoping someone could help me with a problem I seem to be having with integrating GPS with terrestrial data. I just can’t ever attain good closures when combining the two methods. Can someone describe a process of how to integrate the two forms of data in the data collector. Equipment I’m using: TSC3 w/Trimble Access, S6 and R8s. I prefer to use State plane coordinates.

Thanks in advance

Get a good least squares program.

I've used Star*Net to integrate GPS vectors with conventional survey measurements for about 20 years now. Would recommend.

I have combined data in older Trimble equipment with very good results. Do you have Trimble business center?

Terrestrial Surveying Is Ground Coordinated

GPS SPC is grid coordinated.

Scaling is necessary in combining the data.

I can meet my agreement goal of 0.02' when combining GPS and traditional traverse about 90% of the time on the first go round using static point to point observations.

I've used StarNet for the same purpose for almost as long. A good deal of that time with Trimble data. But also with Leica, Topcon, and TDS/Spectra Precision.

I also experimented with SurvNet, which comes in the Carlson Survey bundle. It worked. And with time, I might become comfortable with that.

You can get demos of both these products.

:good:

I use the exact same equipment and routinely get very tight closures between the two.
