Odd, but a friend said on my trip could I stop by and find her four corners of her property. I said, I'm not licensed in Indiana but that I would help her mow her grass or other chores.
This was a later reply on FB to me from her.
lol - the guy at the county office said my plat map was so good all i had to do was measure it off. if the neighbors were worried they could contest it.
Make you wonder sometimes.
There is one surveying-related thing you can always do in Bloomington.
The Lilly Library on the IU campus has a collection of some of George Washington's original field notes and plats. Surveyors (or anyone) are always welcome to stop by and examine them. It's not necessary to call ahead, but if you do, they will probably have the items brought out and ready for you when you get there. Summer is a slow time for them so it's a great time for a visit.
They have other interesting stuff, including George Washington's letter to Patrick Henry accepting the US Presidency.
Wish I'd known that when we visited relatives there. The Lilly Library was showing an exhibit of medieval manuscripts at that time, which was interesting. I think a Guttenburg Bible is on permanent display there. The art museum was worth the stop, and our cousin knew who to ask to get into the Hoagie Carmichael room in some building-original handwritten Stardust and other memorabilia.

Be careful with lawnmowing! You wouldn't want to go 'changing' her boundaries with a slightly diff mowline 😉
