I'm messing with the latest Ashtech Solutions GNSS 3.50.02 download trying to setup a coordinate system, but I'm having a little trouble with the geoid for the ortho heights. I'm trying to set up a system for NAD83, Ohio State Plane, North Zone with Ortho Heights, but when I try to select the geoid in the vertical datum box just ellipsoid, wgs_84 and icd_200 show up. If I select icd_200 it toggles the heights to ortho, but I'm not even sure what icd_200 is? I have downloaded geoid09 from Ashtech's site, but not sure how to import it or which folder to place it in. By doing some internet searches it seems older versions of Solutions GNSS had under TOOLS > GEOID some sort of geoid import option, but I don't see that under ver. 3.50.02. I haven't registered the program since I'm only using it to process L1 data maybe that's the problem.
Thanks
Kelly
Kelly ?
I have never been comfortable with setting up a GNSS Solutions Coordinate System. I ended up with 3 Ohio North's the other day and am not sure which is right yet or if they are different. No need to add Geoid09 it is in the latest solutions.
"Project" Pulldown
"Edit Settings"
"Region Tab" should be the default
In the Spatial Reference Frame window pane you should see
to the right of "Ohio(North)" a button with dots [...]
Push it, the default should be Geoid09.
Satisfy yourself that it is there.
I know that button is there but when I need it I have to search because it is just not very eyecatching.

After clicking the "...." it sends me two a three tab window and defaults to the system tab. In the Vertical Datum window it defaults to ellipsoid and the only other choices are WGS84 and ICD_200. I've never heard of ICD_200, but it the only option that toggles the ellipsoid height window over to ortho height. From my internet searching the only thing I can come up with for lcd_200 is it's a way to express ortho heights, but I'm not sure if it's a model or uses a model. I'm thinking the latest Solutions GNSS I downloaded may need a geoid imported, I downloaded geoid09 from Ashtech, but I can't find anything in the help to tell me how to do it.
