Hi Mike

It is truly scary. I was lucky enough to be taught by some of the elder statesmen Surveyors in my state and i learned a lot from them. My surveying technique today is a combination of those that have taught me. They kept me on a tight leash to start with and let out more rope as they could see i could handle it. It was their reputation at stake.

Some students i see that are working are glorified button pushers. They have unrealistic notions of their skills as they are given a pre loaded data collector with existing control and then think they can survey a bridge or road. Noone there for them to learn from.
