Just makes your case stronger, even if it wasn't directed to some third party as is necessary to prove slander and libel.B-)
Albeit a little different situation, I have used the following technique a few times in the past. The scenario:
I'm moving around the property and adjoiners looking for evidence, all the while listening to the client tell me where everything is, and that I'm not looking in the right place(s). After putting up with the "know-it-all" for awhile, I finally turn to him with a sheepish grin and say, "If you'd like me to finish this survey at the cost we agreed to, I'll be happy to do so, but if you insist on helping, I'll have to charge you double."
They usually get the point, no pun intended.
I have been known to tell a client: "it is costing you $x.xx per minute for every minute you are talking to me. I don't have a problem charging you for it."
That usually sends them packing.
