How UAVs have impacted the geomatics professions

UAVs will have an awesome impact on the geomatics industry professions when our very competent, fairly paid, highly productive government employees will stop enforcing the regulations prohibiting their use and start creating regulations so those of us patiently awaiting deployment can start impacting the geomatics industry professions. [sarcasm](In all honesty, I am not bitter.)[/sarcasm]

Try Canadian geomatics professionals.

How UAVs have impacted the geomatics(?) industry (?)

Perhaps "geodetics" would be a better word?
I don't know - just positing.

Besides that, I expect the UAVs will become a great tool when they can put on some super light weight LiDAR type units. Tie that into a known point being a "launch point" I could easily imagine doing a 15 acre topo in an afternoon by one person instead of a crew of 2 or 3 spending a week or so. I wouldn't imagine that being much different than a feller with a base RTK setup and going out with the rover.
I probably don't have that all the way thought through but you should get the idea.

Good luck with your paper!
E

They may be running a pair of Velodyne 16's rather than the Velodyne 32 on a model or two. The 32 is great as it has a 41 degree range. The 16's have a narrower range but two at ~45 degrees would provide an awesome coverage.
