I agree with the 'more about the wind than actual temp' statement. Cold temps are one thing, but cold and damp is a feeling I'm definitely done with.
I'd take 20° and now wind than 40° and and a 25+mph wind coming off the water.
How cold is to cold?
When the cage that protect the motor and prop on the airboat begins to ice up. This leads to two problems:
1) Can't get enough air for the prop to work properly
2) The added weight of the ice could lead to a quick sinking
It makes for a long trip up the Atchafalaya River when you have to continuously stop to remove the ice.

Wayne - welcome back to Arizona 🙂
I grew up in the southern part of the Adirondacks in upstate NY and came to Arizona in 1977, and now I think that 40 degrees is COLD.
I think wintering in Mexico sounds great, and as weather warms up - keep following that perfect temperature wherever it takes us - then move south in the fall doing the same.
lather, rinse, repeat.
