Hello, I am a Professional Engineer as well as a Professional Surveyor that has been practicing primarily in Central and Northern California over the past couple of decades.

I am currently working on my doctoral studies and a portion of my research focuses on the construction of skyscrapers and more specifically, how the complexities associated with elevation control have been mitigated throughout the construction process on such projects.

"Supertall" and even more recently "Megatall" construction has increased exponentially over the past several years.?ÿ The taller these structures become, the more complex the issue.

I am very curious to hear experiences from other professionals that have worked on tall buildings in recent years (~500' +).?ÿ

What methods did you use to establish floor elevation references as the tower rose high above the ground?

What methods did you use to measure floor shortening?

Did the project specifications require certain floor elevations be re-measured at some frequency?

Additionally, I am trying to acquire a collection of project specifications for my review.?ÿ If anyone would be willing to also share their project specification documents, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for everyone's time and feedback!

Jordan

Thank you for the reference.?ÿ The system implemented and presented in the article focuses on maintaining vertical alignment in response to building sway.?ÿ However, it does not appear to address the topic of elevation control and even states on page 17, "It's however out of the scope of this document to deal with the leveling and adjustment program."
