I have been running VRS exclusively for about 18 months now. I am fortunate in that most of the areas I work (Southern Wisconsin, WISCORS) have excellent cellular data coverage. If not, log some static and post-process.

So I want to make the move to GNSS either by purchasing the OAF for Glonass for my Hiper Lite + or look into a new network rover. I run Carlson SurvCE in the field.

Tentatively, I have been looking at the TOPCON Hiper SR and the SP Promark 700. I am partial to TOPCON, but utilize Trimble Business Center for post-processing, so the Promark files could be read in natively instead of converting to RINEX.

A few questions for those that may know something I don't...

Will I see significantly better performance from the newer technology as opposed to my 7 year old HIPER?

What is the going rate for the OAF?

Anyone running either the Hiper SR or Promark 700 on WISCORS that can comment as to general performance?

Thanks in advance,

Matt

We recently switched from a set of the original Hiper GD's to Hiper II's. We did not have Glonass as an option on our original Hipers but have it on our new units. All I can say is the Glonass is worth every penny. It intializes much quicker and works much better near trees. We don't tie into a network so I can't answer those questions.

My understanding from reading/reviewing the Top SR data sheet's specifications,
the Top SR receiver uses Bluetooth PAN to TX/RX the RTK corrections from the SR RTK Base to SR RTK Rover. The RTK Line-of-Sight range is only 1-2 KM at best. The SR (Site Receiver) does not support cellular RTK, cannot interface a VZW MiFi device to the SR unit, the Bluetooth PAN is very propriety. You can have x1 SR RTK Base and up to x3 SR RTK Rovers running simultaneously. The SR has an attractive price, but it's capabilities are pretty limited. If you need a NTRIP capable RTK Rover; keep looking.
