I can imagine the expert measurers to wonder where to measure to on my brass caps, since they don't have a dimple!;-)

Thats the problem with the laws and/or standards being written (and interpreted) by people who probably have never had to deal with the realities in the field that we see every day. In fact, the sad reality is that most of these laws/standards are written, interpreted, and enforced by non-surveyors.

When things really go south is when someone decides to "add" the second dimple. Seems after that everyone thinks they need to mark the territory. I've seen some caps with multiple punch marks. Take your choice. Time to go back to the "center" of the cap.
