I took SurvCE v5.0 into the field this morning for the first time on my Surveyor+, and found that the Power Search functionality seemed to be wonky. I was testing GPS search with an external receiver (XGPS150A), so maybe I wasn't paying close enough attention to which search was in charge at any given time. But even with GPS search turned off the Power Search command, when issued from the search screen, caused the gun to spin but not find the prism. (It *may* have worked okay when issued from the Store Points screen icon, but again I'm not sure which search that invokes.)
If any of you have experience with this combination of gun and DC software, I'd like to hear about your experiences.
Thanks!
Hey mate,
I've had similar issues with power search on a Leica 1200+ in the past, but I was running with the standard Smartworx software of the era so it may either be SurvCE causing the issue, or hardware problems. Occasionally, for no particular reason the power search function would decide it didn't want to play the game, doing a full 360 degree search with nothing else in view other than the prism pole. At times when this happened the boxed search didn't work either.
The simple fix I found was a re-boot, just shut the jigger down, restart, and miraculously the gremlins disappear. Leica gear is pretty reliable, but from time to time it gets a bit temperamental, and I would assume that it hasn't changed with the Geomax badge attached..
Hi All
I have the same experience as you Jim and Zammo power search has it fits and small window atr small window the same fit.
I usually walk or my rod man walks over to the robot and points right at the prism and take the shot this seems to fix the search fit
for following shots. I have at times gone to another blue tooth device and then go back to the TS12 robot via blue tooth
TS12=zoom80 i would guess
I don't usually power cycle the TS12 as the search fit just usually goes away.
Over all very happy with the calson ts 12 combo with Leica GS14 GPS
I can get 18 km RTK with the GS14 at 1 watt line of sight and over the hill at 500 meters it is repeater time at one watt.
The search fit happens maybe once a week using leica mpr122 360 prism
One thing i wish the surveyor+ which i have 3 of had a better blue tooth module
there is enough room in the back of the surveyor+ for one of these i would think
so get out your magnifying glasses and solder iron and install let me now how it goes
the surveyor+ are the best DC period with carlson CE 5.02
beats out trimbl, husky and captivate CS 20 by miles i demoed
For day to day robot i have calson survce 5.02 set up as follows
I have ENTER and the R icon set up as small window atr search
and the little man top left live store points screen as power search.
One thing that is annoying is to save battery power the edm is turned of unless in contact
with the prism you have to tap the little man with the red line thru it to cause the screen
to update continually. Leave the edm on and i will carry more batteries they are lite
Have you tried any of the low vis and other settings in the attached PDF

I've have the Carlson CR2 (Geomax Zoom 90) and recently used the power search which resulted in the instrument turning circles non-stop. The fix was to get a firmware update and get the latest version of SurvPC installed. Not sure which one fixed the problem, but it works flawless now.
