I've decided to become a flat earth surveyor. All my elevations are 0.

Not if you're using GPS. How's that suppose to work with satellites when the earth is flat anyway. Do they just travel in a straight line off into infinity or do they just bounce back and forth like a game of pong.

@williwaw but then those spherical coordinates then are converted to plane coordinates before you can do anything with it.

Nothing preventing someone from working in spherical coordinates. SPC/UTM are optional.

I wonder if the Great Trigonometric Survey of India was entirely in spherical coordinates. ?ÿ

But not your elevations. XY can be plane, Z not.?ÿ
