@not-my-real-name yes we samething stakes at the corners we find but only on our property.
@sergeant-schultz well I guess your one of the problems… thanks for the comment.
@mightymoe of course there for the clients. It’s always about the client but you are also helping the next guy out with the flag. So either way you look at it you are helping the next guy, wether you say it’s for the client or next surveyor is the samething.
@tom-bushelman exactly if its visible anyone can find it! Maybe I should change the post to making corners highly visible for clients instead of surveyors. I always talk to the customer before a job and ask what they want and don’t want or if they don’t say anything you complete the job like normal without missing any steps and that includes flagging up everything connected to our property. But instead people wanna complain about helping the next guy out and that why this industry is dieing cause most of y’all are like this. Let’s get back to making surveying great again! If you don’t love your job you shouldn’t comment on a post like this cause it’s not for you. Sorry for hi-jack your post but people complain about a job they don’t like. That’s why they don’t wanna take that extra step. Let’s see how many feathers this ruffles!!!
@williwaw yes I agree with not over using flag like the guy above with 6’ of flag hanging off of the stake. But like tou said that knot has saved you soooo many times. Also what about that brittle flag that’s now is on the ground instead of in the tree and then you find it under some leaves and that makes you look more carefully and then most times you stumble across it and think man if I didn’t find that on the ground I would of kept going! Thanks for the positivity and liking your job. I hope we don’t get anymore office comments!
@squirl yea don’t get real bad snow or wind in Delaware, Southern Pennsylvania either
@james-vianna I was just wondering how many flag company’s are out there that make them more survey friendly but that’s not the point of there business.
@joe-ferg that is the corner in most clients eyes. You set it there so it has to be right in there mind! That’s why I make it a point to talk to every client at the end of the job not to only show them there actual property. Most of them had no idea there property was that big or small. The other reason is to ask for a company review on Google with your personal name on it. Well that’s if you did a good job and stood out to them which you should know how to do. Then when it’s your time for a review you bring in proof of all you Google reviews with your teams name in it should go along way. Unless we can get a PLS point of view on that. PLS not a POS. So if your comments aren’t nice keep them to your self. I’m just trying to look out for the up and coming guys or girls cause trying to get your party chief to rave about you to your bosses aren’t that good ijs. But if you have your own customer reviews it will go along way as I have seen in my own career.
@norman-oklahoma the sun definitely kills it but out here we don’t get temps over 100 like that
@bob-freeman I can’t agree more. I always flag above the corner to see where I’m going back too aswell. Either way you still help out the next guy! I’m not a fan of painting cause you can’t just wipe it off and the customers might not be happy with that exspecialy if there over there properly line or unless were told to doit from the PLS.
@not-my-real-name either way you still didn’t find it on your own! So it did help!!!
@bstrand thanks from one blind surveyor to another! Inside joke & I bet the person will still comment! If he does you will notice huh!
I flag corners for the client, the next surveyor and for myself. If the next surveyor doesn't see the corner I used, they're more likely to come up with a different solution. Blue lasts the longest in the sun.
Blue also stands out to color blind folks. I had kid working with me that was one of the 8% of males in the USA that are color blind. He couldn't see pink but he couldn't miss blue.
