Not wanting to hijack John Hamilton's post about Surveyors without Borders.
But I'm interested to hear from those that attended the FIG Working Week recently.
I'm keen to find out what sessions you attended, what you found most interesting and any general comments.
My overall impression (confirming my Sidney observations) is that we tend to have a very narrow focus about what surveying consists of, while attending this conference proceeds to expands that narrow focus to include much, much more.
The Kiwi's are wonderful hosts and came through with a fantastic conference under very difficult conditions.
The running joke that I heard was that if I site was surrounded by a fence, there was certainly a disagreement over money between the owner and the insurance company. It seems that the New Zealand government needs to step in and help to either remove the broken buildings in the Red Zone, or facilitate their rehabilitation. Now, not later. It leaves the impression of a broken city center, covering up the many positive steps that have taken place.
Surveying Without Borders, a common theme!
