We live in confusing times.?ÿ Everything around us seems to change on a near-daily basis.
Example:?ÿ What is your address? (without moving) Route 2 (1980), uh, that is, Route 2, Box 59 (1990), oops, sorry, it's 13700 50th Road (1995)?ÿ Well, then, what's your phone number: 316-xxx-xxxx (1980), uh, that is, 620-xxx-xxxx (1990)
Everything, including land surveying details.?ÿ A lake includes a property line that is based on a spedific elevation in 1970.?ÿ We work with this every day because we have dealt with the datum change.?ÿ What about the newby who has no reason to even be aware that there was a datum change unless we tell them about it?
No matter what is our highest level of technology today, it will be extinct to the surveyors 20, 50 and 100 years from now.
When I started in 1975, I wasn't doing things much different than George Washington
George was doing pretty much the same thing as Egyptians
Fast forward to 2023 and technology has skyrocketed
No doubt it will be bigger, better, faster in the not so distant future
Hang on with both hands; it's moving pretty fast...
Edit:
No matter what is our highest level of technology today, it will be extinct to the surveyors 20, 50 and 100 [days] from now.
