As of late, we are inundated with "NEW" flood vents. Most of them look like a typical metal air vent or the likes. Not being able to recognize all these vents, it makes it difficult to calculate the coverage they provide, let alone provide the engineer's certificate for the vent. We recently did a certificate that had USA Flood Vents, had to request the certificate from the company, and wait a week for it to be mailed, after they told me they typically send it to the house/homeowner where the vents are installed. Other vents the certificate comes in the box with the actual vents. Say 10 years down the road, the property changes hands, a surveyor visits the site, sees that vent as an air vent and documents it that way and prior owners never passed on the vent information/certificate. Is anyone else feeling frustrated with the situation?
I understand your frustration. Fortunately, I've been able to pull the certificates from the manufacturer's website. It then gets attach to my certificate.
I suppose if I could not get access to it, I would just have to do my best to measure the opening and count it as a non-engineered vent.
