I actually don't care, just that's the way it is here.?ÿ If they'd wanted to officially change it, fine.?ÿ?ÿ
Kind of like when we were kids and they were trying to transition to metric.?ÿ If they'd just switched, everyone would've just dealt with it.?ÿ But the half in approach left everyone confused, and all that we're left with now are metric DOT plans of that era, and 2 liter soda bottles.

Oh, and for files, make separate year folders, and then your MDY folders fall into line
Ask them their Land Surveyor registration number.
In response to the original topic...I think we've all been there and you have to pick your battles.?ÿ If it takes 1 keystroke to fix and saves hours of communication and it's not a significant change you're better off holding your tongue and just doing it.
If it's a significant change from what is generally done and you can afford to fight it, go ahead.?ÿ I had one instance in which the county assessor rejected my legal because my tangent curves didn't contain the chord bearing and therefore couldn't be drawn with their software.?ÿ I kindly asked her for the code identifying this requirement, she couldn't and then went on to explain it was because of their software limitation.?ÿ Then, I asked what happens when you change software....that concept never occurred to them and then they accepted my legal.
Yes, it took me 20 years as well to see the wisdom in the Year-month-day structure as it makes file saving/naming so much more efficient.?ÿ I was adamantly opposed to it at the beginning until I realized the efficiency. Now, I only wish I converted earlier.
The file sorting advantage is huge.
This is what I use for file sorting but when writing the date by hand I use MM.DD.YYYY numerical.
I love numerical month/day/year
I really don't care how they do it in Europe, Canada, wherever, I don't work there.?ÿ The convention here in the US is MDY.?ÿ Has been for a while.?ÿ It's not so difficult to understand.
It causes a lot of unnecessary mistakes. Why make things more complicated by doing things differently then everyone else??ÿ
Don't get me started on dividing by 12 and multiplying by 3 and 5280 (or is it 5820?) And then trying to distuigsh between the 1/8th and the 1/16th marks....
At least we did away with two twopence being 1/120 of a pound sterling.?ÿ
