Okay, so I am getting ready to process some Static data observed out in Southern Nevada a couple of weeks ago (not by me or with my gear).

Both receivers are Trimble 4400s using either Zephyr or L1/L2 Compact antennas. The .dat files are converted to RINEX using “convertToRinex” v1.24.

Day 1, everything is cool @ Sta 1 & 2 (both are 4400s).

Day 2, the Sta 1 RINEX File tells me that he is in Bolivia, but the Sta. 3 file is okay (both are 4400s)!

Day 3, the Sta 1 RINEX File tells me that he is in Bolivia, but the Sta. 4 file is okay (a 4700 @ Sta 4)!

Day 4, BOTH stations are in Bolivia (both are 4400s)!

OPUS of course freaks out on the “Bolivian” RINEX files, BUT the .dat files process just fine (I believe that OPUS uses TEQC to make the conversion)!

Appears to be either a glitch in “convertToRinex 1.24,” or maybe a Data Collector Problem (the 4400s don't have internal memory). It appears that the .dat files are OKAY though.

I dunno...weird...

Out of curiosity, did you convert to rinex ver 2.10 or 2.11? What model were the data collectors? What version of data collector software?

I don't know if you have TGO or TBC but you could look at the DC file prior to rinexing to see where the initial position is. You could send me the DC file if you don't have a way to view the DC file.

teqc is so much better than many manufacturers' own proprietary format to rinex converters that I kind of stopped laughing a long time ago.

John,

Going from .dat to RINEX 2.11

Not sure on the data collectors, but either TSC-1(s) or 2(s) I think.

I have TGO (somewhere) but never liked it much. Until the WAVE processor took a dump last year, I used GPSurvey once in a while (but not very often).

I use either GravNav 8.10 (or sometimes SoftSurv 1.52) for my “in house” baseline processing. Been playing around with OPUS_Projects a little too (REALLY COOL!)

I simply corrected the “APPROX POSITION XYZ” in the RINEX headers (5 of 7 files) and they all process fine (both OPUS Static and SoftSurv).

I'm not too worried about it, and the guy who collected the data has been trying to find out what happened as well (TGO & TBC).

Not a big deal at this point, just kinda WEIRD!

Thanks for the offer though, I appreciate it.

Edit...BTW, I just checked "convertToRinex" (which shows the Apprimate Position BEFORE the conversion), and it's Bolivia!

Gavin,

I used to use it a lot, but don't even have it on any of the operational computers anymore (well maybe my Windoz 98 Laptop).
