Teddy, have you done any tests with plastic inserts rather than lead? It seems to me that the toxic qualities of lead are going to make it more and more difficult to use, and possibly even to readily obtain. I'm thinking that a solid plastic (e.g. polyethylene) slug might work just as well, and be lighter and cheaper to boot.

Very true. we are also trying a few materials that could replace the Lead. The Lead is so solid and creates such a great bond is why we prefer this method. I do understand alternatives would be required in many areas. Thank you Jim.

Have you tried Valyrian steel? I heard it's strong, lightweight and great to use against the cold.
