Machine control would solve most of these problems
It was a bad measure up on the construction companies base. After that they started checking into other control after they set their base up. They also entered elevation wrong on control point also. I love machine control, I own a scraper set up on rtk controled trimble system, and I have build about 5 models a year, a few more last year. We have picked up a lot of business from checking behind machine control. Also, we see a lot less errors by these layout guys with they use their robotic total station, they resection so blunders are normally caught.
90% of the errors we find behind these few companies are the simple things, if they were more careful they would catch themselves; it's not the complicated stuff. These guys are stuck with the do it and do it fast mentality, and know they are put into stuff were decimals and small "details" matter, its not just bull dozers running over stakes anymore, now their job involves precise measurements.
All of them have since bought a level! I am young guy and love this technology, but peoples attitudes and egos cause more mistakes on jobsites with MC, its GPS its got to be right.
Machine control would solve most of these problems
I have seen more mistakes on jobsites from bad survey stakes than from machine control and I have been involved for about ten years and hundreds of site models. It seems your area may need more training than what I am accustomed to around here. (I do training at the right price 😉 )
I agree
I have seen many more mistakes from survey stakes than from machine control. I also agree that many of the users need better training than they have. It's something I have looked into since I own a rig already, but in our rural area, it wouldn't have as much return as other place.
