The John Batchelor Show did an interesting survey related article last night on how New York came to be developed as it has. Lots of post-revolutionary era survey history.

They're finding original C/L p.i. stones in Central Park. They found some iron rods stuck in bedrock too. The stones are big cut stone monuments.

I've always known of the bolts in the rock until recently when I read about the buried monuments. Pretty neat.
