How do you translate a group of points by bearing or azimuth and distance in SurvCE?

I'm not in front of mine, but I think under COGO go to Transformations and it might be under Align (which both rotates and translates) and then you have 3 tabs at the top.

First you will pick which point to be dead on (translate old to destination or the like)

Then you will pick any of about 3 different ways to rotate them. Be careful here, don't go too quick because at the end it will ask you which points you want to rotate, and you MUST be sure to leave some points in place so you can compare.

Hope this helps.

Carl,
What you describe is what I'm seeing. What I'm used to in both TDS and TopSurv is being able to specify a group of points and then specify to translate N45E a distance of 10'. Looks like in Carlson to achieve the same I will have to calc. a destination point prior to translating.

No you don't have to create a new point (I don't think). On the second tab you can choose a rotation angle, a destination bearing or pick two sets of points to align to. You have to pick a rotation point at the top of all of this, and it will ask you for your group of points that you want to rotate last. I don't deal with magnetic bearings or sunshots in the field, so maybe it won't do this, but it really shouldn't matter.

You are welcome to call me if you need more help.
