Has anyone had occasion to look for the Reeves/Pecos county line terminus marker at the head of Barilla Springs? I suppose I am mainly asking Kent, but it's possible someone else might have.

Are you certain it's Barilla Springs? The springs by that name I know are Southwest of Fort Davis on the road toward Valentine.
Any resurvey of the Pecos/Reeves County line should be in the files of the GLO. Have you searched the map collection for starters?
Barrilla Spring is the name on the quad map and also mentioned in the county boundary file from the GLO website. The southeast boundary of Reeves is a line between a marked rock on a large earth mound on the south bank of the Pecos River at Great Falls to a "Rck md 4 feet high mrked "P" on one side R on the other at the head of Barilla Springs on a high Peak".
Apparently surveyed May and June of 1885 by JK Harrington.
The monuments for the first 42 miles are reported as "large earth mound".
I did look at the notes for the line dividing Presido (now Jeff Davis) and Reeves which commences at the same point and it describes a 4 foot rock mound on the west side of the spring.
I have a survey project that might involve determining how much of the section is in each county and I have started asking surveyors who work in the vicinity how likely it is to find any trace of the "large earth mounds". Nobody I have asked yet has any experience with tying the county line. Thought I would see if you had any dealings with it.
