We are using 2 TSC3 survey controllers and 1 TSC2, all with AT&T SIM cards used to connect to Trimble VRS. Over the last couple of days we are continually being dropped from our data connection. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Yes.... AT and T is doing something with their networks in the western US. Our network team from Leica Geosystems SmartNet is working trying to find out what is going on and if there is a work-around. I think they are trying to come up with some different APN's that you can use as a work-around. I will post those as we get the information in from reports.

A month or two ago there was a news story about AT&T not having the capacity to serve all their "unlimited data" subscribers and applying rationing or speed reductions to heavy users. You might want to look up such stories to see if you are affected.

I think the answer is with the APN (Access Point Name) you are using. There have been different APN's for different parts of the country... for example wap.cingular, isp.cingular, etc. I think what has happened is that AT and T has moved everything to the APN = isp.cingular. So.... I would change the APN you have entered in you network connection settings to be = isp.cingular

Please let me know if this did or did not work.

We had read some of these same solutions elsewhere and were prepared to change from wap.cingular to isp.cingular this morning when miraculously the data connection was holding steady with the wap. I sent two crews out today, one on wap.cingular and one on isp.cingular and both are reporting good results. This indicates to me that it may be an intermittent problem that will come back and bite us at the most inopportune moment.

AT&T I Had No Coverage For 8 Hours In NJ

When I got home still no coverage, said it was searching. I turned it off and then back on and it hooked up.

PITA.
