I've just received a request, per the RR, from a client (utility company) to provide the RR with the lat-long of a mile of proposed pole line that will occupy the RR's property.

My contact at the utility co. did not have an email or contact number for the "end user" of this info. Anybody have a good swag about what datum and format these folks use in their records? I'm clueless. My best guess is NAD83 in DD-MM-SS.SSSSSS, but I haven't the slightest idea.

Any suggestions?

I would publish in NAD83 (2011)(epoch 2010), DMS.sssss. The GIS folks should know what to do with it. End your report with an offer to provide alternate datum and format for a nominal fee. That gets it off your desk and likely gives them what they need...

uh, how about 10000, 10000, 100 with north being assumed using a 40 foot section of their main line as it crosses Main St.?

Suggest that to them. See if they have any better ideas.
