Just saw a large map on "Antiques Roadshow". The owner said her father was a surveyor and he got it from a post office that was closing. It was about a 4'x6' map of Virginia and the Carolinas from the late 1800's. The appraiser said it was worth about $1800 and would be worth $3000-$4000 if it was in perfect condition.

So, since they knew her father was a surveyor, did they offer her $350 for it and tell her that "all we have budgeted is $350, but if you sell the map to us for that, you'll get all our map business from now on"? :>
Kent

Kent
It was a postal route map, and quite large.
Very clever Kent, and sadly all too common.
