Altus APS3 issues

We recently purchased a used Altus APS3 with a Allegro CX, SurvCE 2.61. At first we had good results utilizing the public RTK Base Stations in Maine. I tried to update the geoid to 12b and include the New England area but found it was to large for the Allegro. I removed the geoid and have not been able to connect to any base stations in ME or MA. It seems to be getting a good signal but cannot connect. I'm not sure if the geoid has anything to do with the error but it reads, CONNECTION NOT AVAILABLE. UNABLE TO CONNECT TO THE REMOTE HOST. OS RETURN3. I have reloaded the SurvCE twice, reset the Altus (which now have firmware issues), I have used other equipment and was able to connect the base stations. Talked with AT&T and Carlson and everything seems ok.

Does anyone have any ideas?

We have found that the on board modem is not the best. Many areas, we just cannot connect. We have moved our system over to MiFi and away from the on board. If you use MiFi you have to go to data collector internet as the on board Bluetooth cannot handle two bi-directional conversations. I am testing an external Bluetooth to get rid of the cable. We are using a different controller so our error messages will not help, but, they are just as vague.

The thing that drove me nuts was none of us had AT&T, so I had no idea what kind of signal we had. MiFi is sooo much better on that one. I also have started using a cell tower location website to anticipate issues. https://surveyorconnect.com/threads/cell-tower-locations.324102/

I agree the MiFi is the way to go. We use it for our computers in the field and other dc's to link to the base stations. I have not had any luck getting a bluetooth connection with the MiFi and Allegro. The operating system maybe to old and not compatible.

I am so frustrated!

I am not familiar with the Allegro, but, can you get WiFi Internet from the MiFi box and then cable the correction to the Altus? No Bluetooth on the correction side, just on the data side

To bad about your Seahawks, I was looking forward to a rematch in the Superbowl.

We have had so many close games with Carolina that we had become their nemesis. They had their A game that day or should I say for the first half, .. bottom line, they just out played us that day. We will be back. I do want to see the Panthers and the Patriots in the SB though.
