I'm sick of scanners. They have their place. Who cares about a scanner, when much of what I do is RETRACEMENT of GLO surveys from the 1840's and thereabouts, and deed studies of more recent stuff, and resolution of urban surveys?
I mean, go scan for that GLO stump does not make sense.
🙂
What about MOTION sensors, integrated with RTK, and BETTER data collectors, and better plastic rebar caps, that are guaranteed not to give up the ghost, in the hot sun, forever? That would be something of interest!

"Word" as we said in the 90's. Or was it the 80's? Maybe scanners are the Bengazi of our survey world.
It's the cash cow item for manufacturers right now, as GPS was in the '90's.
Like GPS, it will become a commodity, but it will never be the "next" GPS.
SUE engineering for finding cornerstones and markers in the road and near fence
corners may allow surveyors to take their place in building GIS systems and a
solid land data base.
