Does anyone have any information about the quality of the AdirPro brands, specifically their Topcon ATP1 style 360 prism (AdirPro MFG No. is 720-15)? I have the older Topcon A6 prism but would like to upgrade and this prism is about half as much (or more than half) as the Topcon brand prism.

Here is a current link as of this post but the manufacturer number is 720-15

https://www.tigersupplies.com/Products/AdirPro-TopconSokkia-Style-360%c2%b0-Prism__ADI720-15.aspx?invsrc ="adwords_ts&gclid=Cj0KCQjwvLLZBRDrARIsADU6ojBNP1UwfnPT8QQhFYj38SQOZ6D380KoLNI-2u-_ji_G1YguRrx9oeEaAl3CEALw_wcB"

I hope to tighten my surveys up a bit with the newer style prism as I hope it reduces the offset errors when not having the A6 perpendicular to the scope.

I see a lot of really cheap $150 +/- options on ebay as well, but those have to be junk, correct?

?ÿ

Thanks for any insight.

I admit to purchasing some of the really cheap stuff on EBay.

Everything I have purchased did serve the purpose it was designed for very well and was just as accurate as the OEM product.

Difference was the cheap stuff was made from lesser quality materials and most OEM parts have that lasting quality of superior materials.

The cheap stuff allowed me to have equipment now and to make the money to afford better stuff.

That cheap stuff probably will not be so cheap in the near future..............

I happened to talk with the Topcon dealer this morning about this exact prism, and then came across this post... I was asking him about used options and he referenced me to this one as a possibility. He had a contractor purchase one and he went to see it in person when they put it to use, as he was curious of the quality of the build. He said it really seemed like a good prism for the price and there was about a 0.007 shift in the reading as they rotated the rod 360 degrees. I'll pry give it a shot too if I can't find an adapter to put my dome on top for my A7 prism I currently use.

Hey S1084h,

I really appreciate the info. That makes me feel even better about it. I will probably buy it for sure now based on that.?ÿ

I like that I can mount my Rc-2 unit to the top of it as well as I already do that with the A6 I have now.?ÿ

Well, that's one more positive response about this AdirPro prism. I guess I should take a chance. Those $150 dollar ones on ebay with the "make offer" are very tempting, though! Maybe I get one of those as well for a backsight dedicated rod.

Thanks!

Ben, if you end up purchasing (or have already purchased) I would be interested in a review of the prism from you....

I bought a ATP2S copy. Sold by Jeoc.

Seems well built and accurate from my preliminary checks. About ?ñ1.5mm as it rotates.

It's a sliding 360 mini prism so very handy for the obstructed situations I often need to set out in.

The prism itself is about the same size and shape as a full size Leica 360 but the housing is that much smaller. So it works with Leica Powersearch. I haven't checked out the maximum distance yet. I am fairly confident it will be similar to a full size Leica 360 which is more than adequate for me.

I'm currently making a few attachments to put it on the big pole, tribrach etc; To use it as a "big" prism as well as a?ÿ mini. Kind of two for one.

It slides on 6mm diameter rod which is easy to get (in the UK at least) in lengths of up to 1 metre.

Squowse, how are you getting on with the prism as I assume you've got a bit of use on it now??ÿ Find it as good as the Leica 360?ø prisms??ÿ Looks like it slides on the rods that the Leica mini-prisms use and figure you got this over the Leica one as quicker to slide than to have to screw/unscrew all the time??ÿ And final question, did you get it from ebay or aliexpress??ÿ Thanks

The latest GMP101's I just got from Allen Precision (and checked the verification code on Leica website) are now made in China (dated 07/2018).?ÿ Which makes me think, which of the ebay seller has the contract to make them and sell a few through the back door?

Be careful. In the past few weeks, I have seen two of these prisms come unglued. Carry good apoxy with you for a quick fix.
