I need a little computer advice.

I have a good laser printer that we use in the house. We have had it hooked up to a desktop computer, and mostly just use the desktop as the "server" for the printer. My wife and I were talking, after another monitor going out on the desktop, that it would probably be better to get a wireless print server for the printer.

The printer we have is a Brother HL2140, and it does a great job for what we need, and I really don't want to replace the printer with one that has built in wireless capability. We already have a ton of printers around the house, and this one works just fine.

Does anyone know of a good, reasonably priced wireless print server? I am am just now starting to research this, and decided I would come to my friends here first. I trust you guys opinions.

A quick note. If the desktop computer that has the printer is connected to the route
via a wire 1) you can use remote desktop from the other computers to access it ( no monitor neded )

2) you can share the printer under the properties in the printer manager and access it via the wireless computers that are connected to the home network.

i am guessing that all your computer are windows o/s

I am doing this at my house with a mix of windows xp & 7 and 3 Linux computers

Anyway i hope this helps. at least this way you won't to spend any money at all.

PS: i figured all this out because i am a tight wad

Thanks for the advice.

We are hoping to be able to access the printer without leaving the desktop computer on all the time.

We don't use that computer very much, and the only reason we leave it on is for it to act as the print server.

I will try your suggestions.

Do you need USB or Parallel port or both?
I've installed both with no problem.

Never used this one, but it has good reviews.

Some require drivers some don't.
After you initial config it's best to set
a print server to a static IP address before
you connect a print share to the PC.

On the PC you will add a "Local Printer"
Select new TCP/IP Port
Type in the ip address of your printer.
