Does anyone know of a way to "Pop Out" a viewport in AutoCAD? I'm working in two 3d views at the same time, and making the most use out of multiple monitors would be nice.
I can use multiple viewports, but I can't free them from the confines of the program frame (the way you can toold bars, layer manager, etc.).

One way to do it is minimize your autocad so that it is less than full screen, then use the grips to resize the window so that it fills both screens. Now you can move a viewport into the second screen. A little clunky but it would work.
My monitors are of such different size and resolution that this is cause for a migraine. Tried it, though. I don't understand why the viewports can't have their own window - probably the only feature of MicroStation that I like. I'm sure it's something deep within the way the software works, and is just not able to be done.

Total kludge solution:
Open the drawing; create an X-REF. Save it (you can still work in it); open another instance of ACAD on the second monitor, open the X-REF; Whenever changes are made in the main window, if it's saved, and the X-REF is re-loaded, you'll have a copy on the other monitor. Can't edit there because it's file locked though.
As I said, a total kludge solution.

Thanks, but doesn't work for what I'm wanting. I'm drawing a lot of 3D architectural detail, and like to start a 3D polyline in one VP and click to end it in another. The more I can see the quicker I can move.
