I was given a loaner TSC5 today. So itƒ??s the first time I have had one in my hands. I hit the ground running doing a boundary with gnss r12i base and rover. I have a dxf file that was created in the office Civil3d. ?ÿIt has the plat boundary and some phase areas. Itƒ??s rough but close enough for me to topo in the area phases. ?ÿOnly problem is i can barely see the lines they are very thin and colors are yellow and light light blue. So hard to see. Can I change them in Trimble access or have to do it in office. ?ÿBeen a long day so I decided to reach out here for help. Its vs 2022 on access. I have been using a tsc3 with 2010 or something version so a little of a learning curve.?ÿ

@OleManRiver

You can't change the dxf colours in the Access.

Easiest field solution is to set your map as 'monochrome' if you have the misfortune to get given a file like that

@jimcox I figured that was the case. I cheated a little today and just created a line so I could see where i was. ?ÿI need to tell my cad guy a line thickness and best colors to use. He draws on black background in cad so yellow is not the best for a white background in access. Lol. Plus i have old man eyes up close. If Trimble could do one thing for me it would be to allow me to change the size of the menu labels and in stake out the in out north east text size and such i would not care if i had to scroll more to find what i needed if i could read it without my cheaters on. Nothing worse than sweat and glasses sitting on your nose in 5 ft of briars. ?ÿThe TSC5 is much lighter than the TSC7 and i just have to figure out how to navigate it. Vs tsc3 and Tsc7. Menus. ?ÿThanks for the quick response. I will have him send me another file. No biggy. ?ÿ

I use TSC3. When you export the linework to dxf file the colors you see on the TSC3 screen take on the colors of that objects layer.

It might even take on the objects color if different than layer color. Iƒ??ve been meaning to test that and also identify the colors that display the best on the dismal TSC3 screen.?ÿ

@ryancj31 I am about to do the same thing. What i can tell you is yellow in cad on a black screen is not very good on the data collector tsc5 or tsc7 white background in sun and such. ?ÿWe are trying to wrap up two nasty projects and of course in a heat spell. So briars all over. But once we are done we are going to just draw different lines and such of different width colors and all so we can see which would be better in the field and get them all set up in workflow for different items like curb boundary phase areas bmp road cl ep and such. I liked the old tsc3 but ours is just done. Keypad has number 7 9 1 donƒ??t work several alpha keyes gone. Locks up and reboots several times. Turns off and will come back on when its ready. They think the board is bad. And company doesnƒ??t want to spend money to fix. So i been testing tsc5 last week and this coming week. I have used tsc7 love the screen but the weight is much more than tsc5 and tsc3. And its so bulky going through the briars and forest. Tsc5 is much better. Hopefully we will test the tdc600 phone one soon as well. I also want one of those tablets before we make our final decision. On the job i have been on that phone one would be great as its thick in briars and such. I am so far only using gps r12i tsc5 on this job. The imu works great for this work. As briars are so talk I canƒ??t always see the rod bubble anyway lol.?ÿ

Not being able to put my hands on one of these right now I just have to ask.?ÿ Is it not possible to change the background color on the Map Screen with these devices?

?ÿ

@bobwesterman I have not tried that yet but I believe you can make it mono chrome but not sure. The office just pulled the trigger and bought one for me as I was handicapped with the TSC3 constantly rebooting and touch screen in and out. I started my first read through the manual and such. I am old fashioned so I have requested permission to print the manual and guides. I like to read through and tab and highlight things as I go through. So far only 3 days in i have only had 1 issue. For some reason the TS5 got in some loop between set ups and it was not connecting gia radio. It was trying to connect by Bluetooth and a cable . I was in the middle of a huge ditch and was trying to read through manual on my phone. I did a quick search on almighty google and found that many have had that issue. ?ÿSome said a complete reinstall of Trimble Access was required. ?ÿOthers just a reboot. I did a restart/reboot or whatever they call it and was back up and running no problem.

Iƒ??ve still been too busy to test best colors for dxf linework. That and knowing we will probably be getting TSC5 or TSC7 so in the near future. Part of me loves it and part of me hates the idea of clamping one of those to my rod.

This chest harness looks ultra dorky but was wondering if anyone ever seen these used for a large data collector? Fold up to hike through the briars and flip her down when you want to use it. Or is the extra weight and inches not all that bad?

@ryancj31 The TSC5 is not to bad in my opinion. The TSC7 is a beast and no fun in briars and thick woods etc. the TSC5 without the extra battery is lighter than the TSC3. On the one I leased I ran it with r12i in some of the worst briars and blackberry areas you can get into. ?ÿIt can still get hung up but for me its light weight made it easier. I ran the tsc7 in the same spots running the robot and i cussed it a lot. Now the TSC7 is fast and large screen makes it ideal for constellation staking in my opinion. With dxf files and all. But I think the TSC5 is a great compromise. If all i were doing is gps and just locating things I think that Tdc600 phone would be the catƒ??s meow. But I run an S5 and Gnss so It works great. ?ÿThey have me mostly doing the control and boundary corner locations. We team up on construction staking most of the time. I usually let the other chief younger than i run his tsc7 and i pound wood. Trying to get him to use dxf files and surfaces more than just points. He is comfortable and productive with points. I looked at the tablets but company pulled the trigger on what was available which was the TSC5 as my tsc3 was costing us more than buying a new dc.

Monochrome Map is in the Map settings (three dots at left in map view):

I don't know of any way to change the master background color...
