I am looking to add basic GPS/GNSS capabilities to my business.?ÿ My main purpose will be grid ties, though I may use it in the future for surveys in open areas.?ÿ Being in NC i can get on our VRS system with a 1 time fee and utilize that when I am in Cell Phone covered areas.?ÿ For Static I can set the 5800 to log automatically upon setup and pull the data straight from the head unit.?ÿ For VRS though, im running SurvCE version 5.06, but dont see an option to add the Trimble 5800 reciever for RTK.?ÿ Does anyone have any suggestions??ÿ The closest I see is under Legacy there is an option for R8-1, but no 5800.

I would not go with the 5800. It's pretty outdated and will not track GLONASS and your chances of getting it to talk with SurvCE is pretty small.?ÿ

I would get an iG8 Base/RTK rover. It will serve your needs, will work for current and future needs, and will work with your current collector set-up. And the price it awesome!

According to the SurvCE Supported Hardware matrix, the last version of SurvCE that had support for the Trimble 5800 was SurvCE 3.x:

http://www.survce.com/supportedHardware (set the equipment type to GNSS Receiver and search for Trimble or 5800)

You might check with your local, authorized SurvCE provider to obtain a trial edition of SurvCE 3 to ensure that it works properly with your Trimble 5800 unit. You could evaluate your options from here.
