I have a traverse station from which I have brushed a line to intersect a lot line.

In the stake line routine, I fail to see the distance and direction I need to move _along the line I have brushed_ to get to the true line! Am I missing something or does this software lack the basic functionality that existed eons ago in SMI on the HP-48?

Thanks...

I don't have it in front of me (switched to Carlson last year) but I believe that it gave a perpendicular offset to line and a come/go distance along the current azimuth to intersect with the line being staked. TopSurv 8.x versions allow the user to select which fields/values are displayed in the stake-out screen so it's possible that one of the offset values has been turned off in your software.

I have the away/to field active and I would have expected this to be the away/to distance along the line of sight. Unfortunately, it appears to be the distance from the rod to true line moving "perpendicular" to the true line.

Being able to tell the rodman "move 20 ft. perpendicular to the line you're trying to find" seems of little value. I don't get it. 🙂

What i read is kinda cryptic.
It sounds like you want a bearing-bearing intersection.

Yes, that is correct.

I would rather not be forced to leave stakeout, manually compute a B/B point, go back to stakeout and stake that point. It seems rather cumbersome considering the simple nature of what needs to get done.

Which would you suggest?

The last one is cut/fill to line.
